Romancing Mr. Rabbit is a brand-new romance bookstore built on a love of books, a passion for bringing people together, and a dream of creating something truly special in our community. We had barely begun our journey when flooding turned that dream into a much more difficult adventure than we ever anticipated.
Since opening, our store has experienced three separate floodings, forcing us to close our doors twice. These incidents occurred through circumstances beyond our control, leaving us with unexpected damage, financial losses, and mounting repair costs. While we continue working toward a resolution, the process takes time, and the financial impact on our small business continues to grow.
As of today, we have incurred more than $10,000 in losses, including damaged fixtures, lost inventory, and revenue lost during closures. While we are doing everything in our power to bounce back quickly, these unexpected setbacks have placed a tremendous burden on our little business.
The outpouring of love and support from our community has been nothing short of extraordinary. You have shown up for us, shopped our shelves, shared our story, and reminded us why we wanted to open this bookstore in the first place. So many of you have asked what more you can do to help, and we are incredibly humbled by your kindness.
